CEPT University Announces Honorary Doctorates for Alain Bertaud and Christopher Charles Benninger, a well-deserved recognition

For the first time, CEPT University will confer honorary doctorates to two veterans in the domains of urban planning and architecture during its upcoming annual convocation on January 20, 2024. Alain Bertaud will be honored with a Doctor of Philosophy (Honoris Causa) in Urban Planning, and Christopher Charles Benninger will receive a Doctor of Philosophy (Honoris Causa) in Architecture. Alain Bertaud is renowned globally for his expertise in urban planning. His profound insights into how markets and state intervention, specifically urban planning, shape cities and impact the lives of their inhabitants are commendable. CEPT University expresses pride in its longstanding association with Alain Bertaud.

Christopher Benninger, a distinguished architect, planner, educator, and institution builder, has significantly contributed to the betterment of Indian architecture. CEPT University acknowledges its deep gratitude to Christopher Benninger for founding the School of Planning and for his numerous contributions as a teacher, lecturer, and a member of its Board of Management.

Congratulating both honorees, Dr. Bimal Patel, President, stated, "Awarding the Honorary Degrees of Doctorate of Philosophy is the highest honor that CEPT University can bestow upon any person. I am very pleased that the two people recognized with this honorary degree are highly distinguished professionals who have exemplified ‘reflective practitioners’ in their fields. In accepting this recognition, they have pledged faith in the University’s high standards of education, research, and practice."

This marks the first instance of CEPT University presenting Honorary Doctorates. The university aims to acknowledge individuals who have made significant and inspiring contributions to its fields, embodying the highest personal and professional standards.
