Uttar Pradesh Welcomes its First Construction Waste Plant that will Create Bricks and Tiles

A first-of-its-kind manufacturing unit in Uttar Pradesh that uses construction waste to make bricks and tiles has been recently made functional in Sangam City. Located at Baswar, the manufacturing plant is the first in the state that will be using debris and construction waste that is left unused on roadsides. Read more on SURFACES REPORTER (SR).

The debris from roadside and construction areas often causes pollution and further clogs drain and obstruct the movement of roads. Constructed at Rs 5.5 crore, the waste plant aims at turning these waste materials into something useful. The plant reportedly has the capacity of handling 100 metric ton of construction waste daily with a recycling capacity of 50-100 metric ton of waste generated daily from the urban areas of the city.

Reports suggest that the material which will be created by recycling construction waste, bricks, curb stones, tiles and slab covers will be also used for road construction and interlocking would be manufactured. The purchasing of waste materials made from the construction and demolition (C&D) waste plant will be reportedly done by the municipal corporation at a lower rate.

Currently, nearly 15,000 metric ton of C&D waste has been collected. The municipal corporation has further appealed to all land owners, builders, contractors, government and private organisations to come further and dispose of their waste at reasonable rates. An agency identified by the municipal corporation is also expected to do the work of collecting debris from various sites in the city.
