Kone India Launches World’s Largest Elevator at Jio World Centre

One of the leading elevators and escalators company, Kone Elevators India announced the launch of its world's largest passenger elevator during a press conference at Jio World Centre, Mumbai.

To make elevators and escalators smarter, smoother, safer and more intuitive, Kone Elevators India – a fully-owned subsidiary of Kone Corporation – introduced the world's largest elevator with a floor area of 25.78 sqm. The 16 ton, 5-stop elevator has been designed to offer optimum people flow with high quality and safety measures. As big as a small flat, the elevator is supported by 18 pulleys and nine ropes for safety. With a Kone EcosDisk MX100 heavy duty hoisting machine that makes it super strong and durable and is also energy saving, the elevator is fitted with Kone E-Link which is a comprehensive facility management tool feature that makes it possible to remotely monitor the elevator.

Designed as a centerpiece of the collaboration-focused design, the elevator provides visitors a glimpse into the expansive world of Jio World Centre, a new business landmark and cultural destination of Mumbai. The elevator has a four-panel centre opening door and glass walls that offers an all-round scenic view. The elevator comes with two info screens that offer building news and updates, while its interior decor draws inspiration from a lotus that is central to the Jio World Centre decor.

Launched during the iDAC Expo 2022, Amit Gossain, Managing Director, Kone Elevators India, said, “We are pleased to announce that the world’s largest passenger elevator is by Kone, and it is in India! Besides our Kone India team, the Kone Global team of major projects experts collaborated with us to design and deliver this most challenging and complex project.”

Kone India also participated at the iDAC Expo 2022 as title sponsor of the Green Pavilion, where it presented its other ground-breaking innovations.
