Giant Panda

Conceptualized and designed by architect Akshay Selukar of Akshay Selukar Architect, The Giant Panda is a beautiful and vibrant restaurant in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. The stunningly designed eatery features a private circular dining area, Chinese panda art on walls, geometrical zigzag flooring, brick cladding on walls, reversed plantation, and much more to entice the customer. SURFACES REPORTER (SR) received more details about the project from the architect. Located in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, The Giant Panda gets its name from a wall having several panda prints with floral hand paint on the cladding.

Giant PandaThe entire project takes the patron on a culinary journey through the landscape of Asia in a manner that has never been done before. 

Use of Asian Subcontinent Materials

The firm used a variety of Asian subcontinent materials such as cane wood lights from Indonesia, the Chinese panda art, bricks cladding on walls in roofing pattern, the geometrical zigzag flooring, reversed plantation, concrete walls, and many more things to make it a happy zone for everyone.

Eye-Catching Wall Graffiti

The wall features the graffiti of the legend - Kobe Bryant ( 41)- an American professional basketball player and his daughter Gianna (13) who were among the nine people who died in a helicopter crash in 2020.

Attractive Ceiling

The ceiling of this restaurant is a prominent element as it contains cane wood hanging lights with hanging creepers merged very well with the air conditioning ducts.

Private Dining Area 

The design team also crafted a separate circular corner seating- a private dining area for diners.

Subtle Furniture

To balance the vibrant walls, flooring, and ceiling in the restaurant, subtle yet comfortable furniture is used.

The space is as vibrant as the streets these foods come from, bringing together flavors and history from regions as diverse as Thailand to Japan to Vietnam to China.

About the Firm

Akshay Selukar Architect is a nationally recognized eponymous architecture and interior design firm founded by Akshay Selukar. Based in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, the firm specializes in residential, commercial, hospitality, retail, healthcare, and beauty projects. The studio has 7 workstations and the design team consists of three architects and three interior designers that work as a team and try for the betterment and improvement of each other. Architect Akshay Selukar is also the founder chairman of IIID Bhopal.
