IIID Jaipur Regional Chapter hosted the highly anticipated India International Design Conclave 2023 (IIDC) from 16th to 18th June at the Rajasthan International Center in Jaipur. SURFACES REPORTER (SR) had the privilege of being the official media partner for the event. The conclave witnessed an impressive gathering of distinguished Indian and international architects, interior designers, and other design professionals who gathered to stay updated on the latest trends and technologies.
The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest, Ar. Sarosh Wadia, President IIID, along with Mr. N.C. Goyal, Guest of Honour and Director of RIC, IIDC 2023 Convenor, and Ar. Sheetal Kumar Agrawal, Chairperson, IIID. Notably, the event witnessed the participation of 25 IIID Chairpersons from across the country, along with National Executive Committee members.
A Global Gathering of Design Mavericks
IIDC 2023 presented a stellar line-up of distinguished speakers who travelled from different corners of the globe, showcasing their passion and dedication to the field of design.
Renowned architects and designers, including Ar. Colin Ball from London, Ar. Sanjay Puri from Mumbai, Ar. Carl Almeida from Bangkok, and Ar. Alessandro Villa from Milan, captivated the audience with their insightful presentations, sharing their vast knowledge and experiences.
Eminent Panellists and Moderators at The Conclave
The conclave's value was further elevated by the presence of eminent panellists and knowledgeable moderators who contributed to thought-provoking discussions on various design-related topics. One such session was on Innovative Adaptations: Exploring how Global Design Trends are being Incorporated in Indian Architecture and Interior Design – the panellists for this discussion were Samiir Wheaton, Dhruv Gupta and Vertica Dwivedi and moderator Megha Bhatnagar. It was a thought-provoking discussion that assimilated a variety of perspectives.
Another panel discussion was a more endearing one called Better Together- Moderator Niraj Shah conversed with couples from the fraternity: Amit-Shalini Gehlot, Paresh-Shital Kapade; Kiran-Manjari Mahajani and Aslam-Tarannum Kadri. It was a spontaneous and friendly discussion that brought forth several key elements of such practices.
Immersive Displays, Art Installations, Workshops & More…
Additionally, the event encompassed workshops, captivating art installations, an art gallery featuring works by Padam Shree artists, and artisans from Kalaneri, as well as displays of designers' works and a trade exhibition, creating a vibrant amalgamation of creative fields and fostering an international atmosphere.
Over 10+ institutes from Jaipur and Udaipur showcased their remarkable art installations. The event drew a crowd of more than 600+ designers, with over 200+ students participating, showcasing their artistic talents through creative workshops and presenting their best projects.

Jaipur has swiftly established itself as a designers hub in India and with events such as these, it is gaining recognition on a global scale.
This allows international designers and craftspeople to connect with the local design community, resulting in the creation of jobs, improved craftsmanship and growth in the industry.
