Disney Plans To Create Magical “Story Living” Community For Fans in the USA

If you are a fan of Disney, this will be good news for you as The Walt Disney Company announced a resort-like residential community in the USA- ‘Storyliving by Disney’. The mixed-use residential community will allow people to live a story-like life in the city. Christened Cotino, the proposed housing complex will contain 1,900 housing units, which will be designed in a resort-like, small-town style that will be inspired from Disney's famed theme parks. storyliving-disney-cotino-california-renderings-surfaces-reporterAccording to the statement made in the press release: “As more and more fans look for new ways to make Disney a bigger part of their lives, the company today announced plans to introduce Storyliving by Disney, vibrant new neighborhoods that are infused with the company’s special brand of magic. ”

A Grand Oasis

Located around a 24-acre central lake described as a "grand oasis", the Cotino community will vary from standalone family homes to estates condominiums. The community has got a specific plan approval for a colourful mixed-use town center which will consist of an array of dining, entertainment and shopping areas with a graceful beachfront hotel and a professionally managed beach park.

Disney cast members will operate all the facilities. The ‘cast members' is actually a theatrical term used for Disney theme park employees, which was originally coined by Walt Disney.

Arizona-based DMB Development will develop the project in partnership with lt Disney Imagineering.

Why Named Cotino?

The name Cotino comes from continus coggygria- European smoke tree plant- that refers to Smoke Tree Ranch, where Walt Disney owned a house in nearby Palm Springs. The club house of Cotino will be positioned on the water. 

storyliving-disney-cotino-california-renderings-surfaces-reporterPeople of all ages can reside in the community. However, a particular section is specifically reserved for residents over the age of 55. Disney has also plans of creating other Storyliving communities in other districts of the US.
