SAVE THE DATE: A Special Seminar on Wood Composites being organised by Institute of Wood Science & Technology (IWST), an initiative of Indian Council of Forestry Research & Education with SURFACES REPORTER (SR) & PLY Reporter as Knowledge & Media Partners
Online Programme on Wood Composite
The much awaited event will begin on Friday June 11, 2021 at 10:00 AM and will end by 1:00 PM the same day. During the event many dignitaries from wood industries along with the researchers and scientists will share their opinions and presentations on a varied number of topics.
After a brief opening by Ms. Vertica Dvividi, Editor-in-Chief, Surfaces Reporter, the schedule will begin with an introduction by Dr S.K.Sharma, Head Extension Division, IWST Bengaluru followed by an inaugral address by Mr Sajjan Bhajanka, President, Federation of Indian Plywood & Panel Industry (FIPPI).
The first presentation of the day will be on 'Wood composites for Furniture making in India' which will be given by Mr. Rudra Chatterjee, Chairman, Furniture Committee, FICCI & Mr. Edward Carey, CEO, Manor & Mews.
The next in line is a presentation on 'Status of research on LVL, Bamboo Lumber and CLT at IWST'. This will be given by Dr S.R.Shukla, Head Wood Properties and Uses Division, IWST Bengaluru, Mr. Priyak Maithani & Mr. Kelkar U Bhushan, both Research Scholar, IWST Bengaluru.
The third presentation of the day will be on 'Wood plastic Composite as promising green-composite for furniture, automotive and other industries' given by Mr. Ritesh D. Ram, Scientist E, Wood Processing Division, IWST & Mr Mahadev Chikkanna, Founder & CEO, Spectalite, Bengaluru.
Next up, we have an important session on 'Role of adhesives in wood composites and formaldehyde emission parameters' by Mr. Vaidyanathan Hariaran, Technical Head, Trubond Industries Pvt Ltd.
The fifth presentation of the day focusses on 'Panel products from Plantation Timber and amending BIS standards by Dr S.K. Nath, Joint Director (Rtd), Indian Plywood Industries Research & Training Institute (IPRITI).
The final presentation of the day will be on 'Wood Composites for Structural Uses' by Dr Jimmy Thomas, Forestry Innovation Consulting India Pvt Ltd. (Canadian Wood), Bengaluru.
The remarkable day will end with a concluding remark from Dr M.P. Singh, IFS, Director, IWST Bengaluru followed by the Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr K.K. Pandey, Head, Wood Processing Division, IWST Bengaluru.
