Crystalline Zinc Facade And Metallic Overhangs Define A Climate-Responsive Landport | Land Ports Authority Of India (LPAI)

Created to mark 50 years of diplomatic ties between India and Bangladesh, the Landport (Integrated Check Post) at Sabroom-Ramgarh stands as a contemporary infrastructural gateway where architecture and performance converge. Spread across a 50 acre site shaped by dense vegetation and undulating terrain, the project’s built forms (comprising the Passenger Terminal Building (PTB), the Inspection-cum-Warehouse facility and the Cargo Building) are carefully positioned on naturally levelled zones, allowing the facades to respond sensitively to both climate and context.

The PTB emerges as the architectural focal point, defined by its striking crystalline geometry. Its facade is clad in NedZink zinc panels and installed using a standing seam system, which is chosen for exceptional durability, weather resistance and low maintenance in the high wind conditions influenced by the Bay of Bengal. The simulated patina finish lends the envelope a seamless, unified appearance while also reinforcing long-term resilience. Direct wall-to-roof junctions and excessive cantilevers are deliberately avoided to enhance thermal performance and structural efficiency. Across the complex, facades integrate ACP panels, glass and projecting metallic roof elements that provide shading and visual rhythm. Additionally, a green terrace crowns the main ICP structure, adding an ecological layer while also allowing future expansion.
