Livspace Moves Toward an AI-Native Model Across Design and Sales - 1000+ layoffs and major restructuring in process | SURFACES REPORTER

AI-powered mood boarding, 3D rendering and predictive systems are reshaping design, operations and customer experience at the interiors platform reports SURFACES REPORTER (SR).

India’s home interiors platform Livspace has deepened its integration of artificial intelligence across core design and operational functions, positioning itself as what it describes as an “AI-native agentic organization.”

The company confirmed that over the past six months, it has systematically deployed AI agents and automation across sales, design, operations and marketing as part of a phased operational transformation.

In design, AI-powered mood boarding and 3D rendering tools have reduced the time from concept to visualisation by 60 percent — a significant shift for an industry traditionally driven by manual iterations. The transition has reportedly affected around 1,000 employees, representing nearly 12 percent of the company’s total workforce. The platform now enables faster client previews, more accurate visual outcomes and improved design turnaround timelines.

Beyond design visualisation, predictive AI systems are also governing supply chain management and project tracking, reducing manual oversight and improving delivery precision.

Livspace emphasised that the transition is a strategic reallocation of resources aligned with long-term efficiency and customer outcomes. Founded in 2015, the company became a unicorn in 2022 after raising $180 million at a valuation exceeding $1 billion.

In parallel, co-founder Saurabh Jain is embarking on a new entrepreneurial chapter after 11 years with the company. Livspace credited him with helping architect the operational scale and systems that underpin its current AI-led evolution. A member of the founding team since 2015, Jain joined at a time when India’s home interiors market was largely unorganised. Over the years, Livspace evolved into a technology-enabled platform offering end-to-end interior design and execution services. The company expanded its footprint across multiple cities, emerging as one of the prominent brands in the organised interiors segment.

As digital intelligence increasingly shapes how spaces are imagined and executed, Livspace’s AI integration signals a broader shift toward data-driven design ecosystems.
