Vinithra Amarnathan Gives A Retro-Inspired Mid-Century Artsy feel to this Home in Bangalore | Weespaces

Vinithra Amarnathan, founder and principal designer, weespaces, has modelled this gorgeous retro-inspired private space for clients who had been traveling in India and overseas and after several years of moving were keen on setting up their dream home in Bangalore. Nestled in a beautiful location with a stunning view of Ulsoor Lake, the home is just not a relaxing and functional space for the clients but it is also infused with the feel and flavour of their travels to different destinations. The designer tells SURFACES REPORTER (SR) more about the project. Take a look:

The home had a wonderful layout; the private and public spaces are divided nicely. As you walk past the kitchen you come to a long hallway that connects the bedrooms.

Beautiful Long Hallway

We love to see how the long hallway is beautifully embellished with vintage Iranian rugs while the walls carry vintage maps collected by the clients during their travels. Further, a custom cane insert hallway closet in the area contains the clients' favourite piece of art.

The cane is placed between glass to keep it free from dust or dirt. The vintage maps gallery wall gives a chic appeal to the house.

While the brass pinecone pendants from BoConcept stretching to the length of the hallway bring in a moment of drama while visually elongating the space!

Master Bedroom Swathed in Beige and Brown

The master suite at the end of the hallway features a large king-size cane bed that sits nicely against a geometric ikat-inspired wallpaper resplendent in tones of brown and beige. A beautiful walk-in wardrobe also finds its place in the room. Simple glass pendant lights bring in a modern fresh flair to the Balinese art that their clients owned.

The seating nook on the opposite side has the clients' vintage Danish chairs and a vibrant rug against the french doors that open into a wraparound balcony. “We added a custom chest of drawers with beautiful detailing and it adds storage and function to the space,” said Vinithra.

Master Bathroom Dressed in Dark Charcoal

Dark charcoal anti-slip floor tiles and grey and white faux marble tiles dominate the master bathroom. A wall-to-wall brass framed mirror completes the look of the bathroom while the vanity lined in teak veneer brings warmth to the space.

Guest Bedrooms

On the right of the hallway lies the guest bedrooms. While one is painted all over in a beautiful smoky blue tone and has a mid-century artsy feel, the other guest bedroom is a pastel paradise with a beautiful hand-embroidered fabric headboard as the focal point complemented by blush wardrobes and vintage botanical prints.

Adjoining this pastel bedroom is a striking monochromatic bathroom that brings in beautiful contrast to the space as you walk in!

“We completely remodeled all bathrooms in the home and the palette here is a simple black and white tiles accented by a geometric chevron tile and a beautiful black marble countertop,” said the designer.

The design of this home was a beautiful journey in the spontaneous nature of the design process and how each of the spaces in the home evolved. Nothing’s overthought or over-designed but feels just right and inviting but at the same time has an elevated presence!
