Nestled within the heart of New York City, Priyanka Chopra's Indian restaurant- SONA- embodies the wonders of timeless India and its bygone era. Opened on March 26, the shiny restaurant is envisioned and designed by Melissa Bowers. The beautiful interiors of the restaurants evoke the Art Deco period of Mumbai in the 1930s. The designer has subtly but impactfully entrenched India's rich history in the restaurant's interior design details. The restaurant is co-owned by Maneesh K. Goyal and David Rabin. Hari Nayak is the chef in the restaurant. The stunning interiors of the restaurant feature the pleasing design aesthetic of the 'Desi girl'. The actor-producer says she poured her love for Indian food into this restaurant. It is revealed that the name "Sona" was suggested by her husband Nick Jonas.

Priyanka also shared a few pictures where she can be seen performing a puja together with her husband.

She wrote on her Instagram: "This endeavour would not have been possible without the leadership of my friends @mkgoyal and #DavidRabin. Thank you to our designer #MelissaBowers and the rest of the team for realizing this vision so clearly. The second and third photos were taken in September 2019 when we performed a small intimate Puja (prayer ceremony) to bless the space that would soon become #sonanewyork Godspeed!"

The Glossy Signage in the Exterior

The shiny blue coloured signage makes the word "SONA" in the golden tone shimmer more.

This is the most prominent feature that attracts visitors from the exterior.

Interiors Paying An Ode To The Art Deco Buildings In Mumbai

The notable feature of the Mumbai city's architecture- The Art Deco style- reflects in the interiors of SONA. The shape of the restaurant is linear, with seating arrangements on the side and in the centre. Against the monotone furniture, the accent lightings stand out.

Along with accent lighting, ample natural light enters the space, brightening it up while keeping the mood relaxed and calm.

A great feel is created straight from the entry to the gilded columns to the crockery, marble tops, art and décor pieces.

Magnificent Indian Artworks Adorn The Walls at SONA

Various beautiful artworks by Indian artists accentuate the walls of the restaurant. The paintings showcase the vibrancy in India. The actor has collaborated with advisory Sunderlande to exhibit art exclusively from India, featuring modern and contemporary artists.
