Aditi Sharma

Principal Designer, Aditi Sharma Design Studio

Gurugram

Born and brought up in a small hillstaion in northern India . A post graduate from Domus Academy Milan, Italy .  She got her first flavor of the interior design at Archohm consultants - Noida , where she was fortunate enough to be mentored by the principal designer Mr. Sourabh Gupta . It was here that her ability to design and create found its foundation.

Aditi was fortunate enough to be the part of the core team. Each project brought fresh challenges, which ultimately has helped me to develop professionally. Apart from work, She took part and organized archotour for 6 years, which was an annual trip to various countries, taken purely to evolve myself on design. A group of 20 people, a mix of architects and interior designers would see about 100 buildings in 12 days by various masters like Zaha hadid, Tado ando, Le Corbusier to name a few. This was a great exercise as nothing can teach you more than travel and experiencing architecture in person.

She was also a core member of the team and carried a project to establish a high end European furniture store in India. Being in the research team it took me to various furniture fairs globally like, salone in Milan, cologne fair and Masion de objet Paris to name a few. She also got an opportunity to visit manufacturing units of various Italian brands making world class furniture. Starting as junior interior designer to heading interior projects at archohm has been a big learning curve for her.

Aditi served at archohm from 2008 – 2015. In between she took a break to turn to academics and achieved maters in living design from Domus academy Milan, Italy. Among all this she grew fascination for concrete as a material. To explore this further she worked in Budapest hungry for a short period of 60 days with a designer making wonderful things in cement. On my return to India she cofounded Gomaads, a product design studio making lifestyle products in concrete. For some unforeseen reasons, she couldn’t pursue it further. During her time, we as a team bagged Elle décor design award – table ware category -2014.

Early 2017 Aditi founded her studio. with not many projects in hand and enough time she started experimenting with concrete again which pushed her  start a fashion accessory brand “Greytone “. Here I design contemporary jewellery with concrete. Coming from a strong interior design background it gives me a lot of scope to experiment with architectural materials, textures, bold geometric shapes and clean lines to convert them in to bold statement pieces to redefine perceptions of jewelry. it has won two big fashion awards like : Grazia young fashion -2017 and Elle graduates 2018. This certainly was the most exciting part of my design journey as she ventured into fashion – a different! Fashion shoots to site visits and jewellery to spaces multitasking between the two genres of design has been very exhilarating. As a studio, firm practice interdisciplinary approach towards design. Main aim has been to never stop learning and explore. Studio also follow a following a holistic approach, make conscious effort to pay attention to the details. As small practice we have been lucky to do projects under all categories like retail, educational institutions, residences and commercial spaces. All this mentioned above has been an incredible journey so far. Coming from a small town to big city, travelling intensively, meeting interesting people and experiencing design in whichever way possible has been a never-ending learning process which made her more passionate about design and transform her thinking.
