With Height 770 Feet, Ostrava Tower Becomes The Tallest Skyscraper in the Czech Republic | Chybik + Kristof

Czech studio Chybik + Kristof has unveiled plans for the construction of a 235 meters (770 feet) skyscraper above the heart of Ostrava's city center, Czech Republic, which will become the tallest skyscraper in the country. Developer RT Torax Group has commissioned the work to design the 56-story Ostrava Tower in the east of the country. The tower’s construction is anticipated to finish in 2027. Currently, Ostrava's 85-meter-tall New Town Hall which was built in the 1930s holds the position of the tallest building. While the AZ Tower in Brno is labeled as the Czech Republic's tallest building as of now which measures 111 meters. When complete the envisioned skyscraper will be twice more than the height of AZ Tower.

Fascinating and Iconic X-Shaped Building

The unique shape of the building, which is located near a shopping center and former steelworks, consists of two stacked triangular forms.

ostrava-tower-tallest-building-czech-republic.Featuring an X-shape, the building “creates a simple but powerful form that acts as a beacon into the city center” as per Michal Kristof, co-founder, Chybik + Kristof.

ostrava-tower-tallest-building-czech-republic. The design of the building shows a complex set of alternating walls and a glazed facade that allows stunning views of the city and the surrounding landscape while maintaining privacy and safety.

Programs

The mixed-use tower will contain offices, retail spaces, and a congress center to its lower 11 floors while a hotel and restaurant form the upper four floors.
