Mercedes-Benz, in collaboration with SHoP Architects, has revealed plans for its first branded skyscraper in North America, located in Miami's Brickell neighborhood. Read more about this project on SURFACES REPORTER (SR):
This groundbreaking project, named Mercedes-Benz Places, is a 67-story mixed-use structure currently in progress in Miami's Brickell district. Developed by JDS Development Group, this architectural marvel is a result of collaborative efforts between SHoP Architects, the Mercedes-Benz design team, and JDS.
Boasting 2.5 million square feet, it stands as one of Florida's most extensive ongoing developments.
What does it entail?
Notably, the project encompasses 791 meticulously crafted residences bearing the distinguished Mercedes-Benz brand, ranging from studios to luxurious three-bedroom condominiums. Alongside, the skyscraper integrates 200,000 square feet of office space, health and fitness amenities, a hotel, retail outlets, and 130,000 square feet of additional facilities.
Inspired by Mercedes-Benz's ethos of "sensual purity," the tower's design exemplifies a fusion of intelligence and emotion, drawing from nature and Bauhaus principles.
Multiple rectangular volumes and curved-corner balconies
The rendering features multiple stacked volumes with curved-corner balconies, aiming to captivate light in diverse ways. Adorned predominantly in a "technical silver" hue with accents of classic Mercedes-Benz colors, the tower will prominently display the iconic brand logo at its entrance.
The project also involves the refurbishment of Miami's Southside Park to create an urban oasis. Foundation work has begun, and occupancy is planned to start in 2027.
This collaboration marks the fourth project between JDS Development Group and SHoP Architects, known for their innovative designs.
