VOX Building Products- A Company to Watch Out in Architectural Surface Materials

VOX has recently joined hands with the Poddar Family, the ex-promoters of Ashirvad Pipes, to expand their distribution network in one of their most important markets in India.

VOX is a European Company operating in the building material and home furnishing market since 1992. They have 6 high-tech factories located in Europe & Russia, along with a prominent presence across 4 continents and 40 countries. They have recently joined hands with the Poddar Family, the ex-promoters of Ashirvad Pipes, to expand their distribution network in one of their most important markets in India. #SurfacesReporter spoke to Varun Poddar, the CEO of VOX Building Products Pvt Ltd on this partnership, his plans for the Indian market, new product launches and more...

Tell us about your association with VOX?

Our family was into pipes with the brand called, Ashirvad Pipes since 1975. In the year 2018, we exit that business and started VOX Building Products Private Limited, in Partnership of VOX – a renowned company operating across 40 countries since last 25 years. They remain to be amongst pioneers in using technology & innovation in plastic building materials. Indeed it made a lot of sense to partner with them. We started testing market from September (2018) with products imported from Europe; our plan is to start local production in India, starting from the first quarter of 2020, not only in India but across the world.

In a place like India, with varied climatic conditions, what kind of issues do you foresee. And, how prepared are you for the same?

This was my first question as well to the parent company, “how are you going to deal with the Indian weather?”

VOX is present in Middle East and Israel, thus we are already operating in countries which have similar weather conditions as India. Their global experience and our knowledge of 40 years in plastic industry, gives us confidence for our products. Yet, we’ve taken a conservative approach and gone stage-by-stage in launching our entire product range. As we speak, there are products under testing across India, so that we can be fully confident of the products before we launch them.

Our approach is always to see what the pain point of the customer is, what are the difficulties being faced by the builders in finishing a project and then provide solutions accordingly.

What kind of inventory are you going to have for the moment?

We have a warehouse in Bangalore. We are also in-process of appointing distributors all across pan India. Supply chain is a very integral part of a company and we try to maintain a robust system because the customer is not going to wait if the product is not available. We need to maintain inventory here till the production plant starts.
