‘Breeze and Seismic Tremors Posed Great Challenges While Building The Statue of Unity’: Ram V Sutar

Ram V. Sutar- the creator of the worlds tallest statue, The Statue of Unity, is sharing how the statue came into being and what are the challenges he faced.

Within a tenure of 60 years, Ram Sutar’s hands have immortalised countless realistic sculptors, including influential personalities like Mahatma Gandhi to Rabindra Nath Tagore, Chattrapati Shivaji and even the World’s Tallest Statue ‘Statue of Unity’.

Talking about how the building of the world’s tallest statue came into being and what are the challenges he faced, Sutar told the team of Surfaces Reporter, “There was a statue of Sardar Patel installed at Ahmadabad airport which was liked by our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. They asked for our permission to use a similar statue in its enlarged form, to which we readily agreed. He was asked to review all statues of Sardar Patel until now in India to choose the best and fortunately, the one made by me was chosen as the best and the most appropriate...
