Earth Cafe by Annkur Khosla Design Studio

Annkur Khosla of Annkur Khosla Design Studio has delved into a duality of contrasting colour scheme for the Earth Cafe. Drawing inspiration from its name and cuisine, the cafe features a distinct colour scheme. To bring out the desire of reflecting a stark contrast in the interiors, Khosla took two diametrically opposite colours and defined each space consciously by reflecting the part of the world as one. While the millennial blush creates an insta-worthy backdrop, the grey vicinity balances the pastel hue by toning it down a little. The chic, linear furniture blends with the dual pastel chart of the space. The seating and decor have been kept at a minimal to balance the chasm of colour. Ample of natural light pours in through the big windows.  “Each colour is represented and coordinated completely in the flooring, ceiling, furniture and furnishing to perceive it as an integrated whole,” she informs.

Educan School by Enrique Espinosa and Lys Villalba

Shipping containers are altered into a canine school by two Spanish architects Enrique Espinosa, founder, Eeestudio and Lys Villalba that addresses the needs and requirements of dogs alongside sheltering other species. Named Educan, the project reflects on how agricultural buildings, usually relegated to the margins of the discipline, can become exceptional fields for innovation, joining ecology, design and material experimentation. Its floors are adapted to the pads and joints of animals. Removable rolls of PTE-based synthetic turf are set up in the training classrooms as opposed to the theory classrooms which are furnished in semi-polished, exposed aggregate river pebble-made concrete. Reducing echo, other noises and reverberation is taken care of with sound-absorbing pyramid foam insulation. Rainwater from the rooftop is harvested in large troughs for dogs and birds. As for its colour scheme, vibrant shades of yellow, red, blue and mint green adorn the exteriors of Educan. The colours bring out the homogeneity of industrial materials including metal, steel beams, foam insulation and exposed service ducts.

Fancy Pants by Quirk Studio

Staying true to the brand’s slogan – Be Fierce Be Fancy – retail store Fancy Pants celebrates the ideology of the label that is tailored specially for women. Designed by design firm Quirk Studio, the retail space embodies shades of cherry blossom hues with subtle tones of white as it draws inspiration from the Japanese botanicals. Interior designers Disha Bhavsar and Shivani Ajmera decided to reflect the character of the brand through its chic, feminine and vibrant interiors. Visual stimulation is created in juxtaposition with products on display that form the focal point of the store. A combination of the brand’s colour dominates the interiors with hot pink in contrast to emerald green. The bold pops of colour bring a stark contrast to the entire space with effortless blacks and whites in the form of stripes. To eliminate a colour muddle, the designers picked the colour scheme in such a way that it visually extends to the organically designed furniture design with curves and bold textures.
