World Wood Day (WWD) is a day dedicated to highlight and raise awareness to the significance and cultural value of wood and its sensible uses in construction and design. The idea was conceived by National Wood Culture Society, a non-profit, non-governmental international organization dedicated to the promotion, education, and research of wood culture. It is celebrated every year on 21st March and coincides with International Day of Forests.

Wood is indisputably a wondrous material. It is a renewable and sustainable building material that help to minimise carbon footprint. SURFACES REPORTER has published several articles including this one to explicate a wide variety of the wood’s applications and characteristics. In addition, we informed about the rising popularity of Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) – an engineered wood product- in the manufacturing of tall building structures because of its lightweight, durability, and superior acoustic, fire, seismic, and thermal performance.
